ABOUT LUCY

Lucy Turner is a 21-year-old performance artist; dancer, choreographer, model and actress currently training at London Contemporary Dance School. Her creativity has resulted in her construction of thought-provoking choreography which has been recognised at dance nationals in the UK and led her to be the first student to win the Tudor Rose choreography cup in 2019. Lucy truly believes that dancing can communicate and raise awareness for pressing topics in the modern world,  she believes the ugly side to life should be just as relevant as the beautiful side. She wants to bring awareness to dance being an artistic practice as well as the athletic one that the media portrays. This is why Lucy choreographs articulate routines and tends to lean towards expressive dance styles such as contemporary, although she lives and breathes all the styles equally. She is currently exploring and teaching psychology-based, creativity-enhancing techniques to help all types of dancers, choreographers and creators find their voice. These techniques include 'conditional choreography': making a choice between two moves for each step of a dance routine to create an individual pick'n'mix routine, and 'interpretational choreography': giving only spoken framework to dancers to urge them to find their own interpreted way of moving.

She seeks to empower and inspire others to strive to live as authentically as possible, despite how intimidating it may seem in the modern world.

"I advocate authentic living to individuals of all ages in hope that they will inspire themselves and others, creating an endless cycle of positivity."
